Elizabeth Hendrickson has been in front of the camera for 24 years, but now she’s pulling the strings.
Chloe has been missed on The Young and the Restless. We love seeing her friendship with Chelsea and her relationship with Kevin. Elizabeth Hendrickson is used to being in front of the cameras. But, for the first time ever, she’s stepping behind the camera and calling the shots.
Stepping Behind The Camera
In a new Instagram post, Hendrickson shared a series of photos. The first was a shot of the clapperboard that read, “The Young and the Restless. CBS Television City.” It was a teaser for Episode 13181, which is slated to air on August 5, 2025. The rest of the photos showed Hendrickson taking her new role seriously.
She posed with the actors. Interestingly enough, Allison Lanier made an appearance. She stepped away from her role as Summer Newman in early May. Is Lanier making a return? Hendrickson also got a shot of Nathan Owens, who plays Holden. He smiled as he posed in front of a green screen in his tux. Y&R fans noticed that Owens was added to the opening credits.
In the remaining shots, Hendrickson had an emotional chat with Victor Braeden. The two shared a hug. The last photo showed Hendrickson looking at cuts of the actors’ scenes. She looked comfortable as she stepped behind the camera.
Directors Chair
In the post, Hendrickson wrote, “After 24 years in front of the camera, I’m thrilled to be able to tell you all that I’ve stepped behind it.” Her first episode will air on Tuesday, August 5. “I hope you enjoy it as much as I did directing it. The privilege (and pressure 🙂 of working with two giants of our genre, Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott, on my first day was not lost on me.”
No big deal to work with two soap opera legends. We have a feeling that Hendrickson was in good hands. In the rest of her caption, Hendrickson thanked the cast and crew at Y&R, CBS, and Sony Productions. “Huge thanks to Josh Griffith, our Executive Producer and Head Writer, who greenlit my goals from the start. Danielle Unger, Renée Villafan, Matt Olsen, Jonathan Fishman, Vivianne Gundaker, Robbin Phyllips, Matt Kane, Jill Farren Phelps…..It took support and determination from so many.. and I got it. And to Owen Renfroe — the best teacher and mentor I could’ve asked for — thank you for your time, wisdom, and belief in me.”
Y&R fans are thrilled to watch this episode. One person wrote, “Yay! I’ll be watching.” Someone else wrote, “How exciting!!! I watch @youngandtherestless_ every day and love it. Looking forward to your directing debut!!!” We look forward to Hendrickson’s directorial debut, as well. This episode will mark the start of a thrilling new endeavor.
