Pregnant Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) was put in a difficult position in recent Coronation Street scenes when Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) told Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) that he was the baby’s father.
Unfortunately, Jenny had got the wrong end of the stick, and the baby’s dad was actually Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
However, before Daisy could confess, Daniel started making plans for the future, which included helping Daisy and Jenny clear the debts they had racked up with Carla Connor (Alison King).
He came up with a plan to buy the Rovers using savings he had stashed away for Bertie, insisting that it would be an investment for his future.
With Daniel so excited and things working out in their favour, Daisy kept quiet about the baby’s true paternity, and Jenny did everything she could to persuade her not to change her mind.
Jenny insisted that this would give Bertie a stable future, as well as provide Daisy with the family she’d always dreamed of, which left her convinced.
However, it was clear she still felt guilty about her deception, as she later suggested to Daniel that he make sure he had some security by putting his name on the deeds for the Rovers.
She wanted to make sure he was covered legally, and he was quick to agree.
Daisy continued to struggle with her guilt as they headed in for their 12-week scan.
As Daisy watched Daniel growing attached to the baby, she became overwhelmed and rushed out.
Back in the Rovers, she revealed to Jenny that she wasn’t going to tell Daniel the truth, but broke the news that Jenny would no longer be the landlady once the sale of the Rovers had gone through.
Jenny was horrified and insisted that the pub meant everything to her, which left a sour taste in Daisy’s mouth as she realised that her earlier pep talk had been for entirely selfish reasons and not about Daisy’s future at all.
Determined to keep hold of the pub, Jenny pointed out that Daisy and Daniel couldn’t take her name off the deeds without her permission.
Daisy was quick to retort that she would need to find another way to pay Carla back if she wasn’t prepared to go along with these terms, and it was clear that Jenny felt backed into a corner.
