Coronation Street spoilers follow from Wednesday’s episode (February 12), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.
Coronation Street has aired a rare update on Becky McDonald – 13 years after her exit from Weatherfield.
Becky was given a mention in Wednesday’s episode as she played an unexpected off-camera role in Max Turner’s exit storyline.
Max is currently facing an uncertain future after setting fire to the Platt house in an attempted insurance scam last week.
The troubled teenager hoped to help his family resolve their ongoing financial nightmare, as they still owe thousands of pounds to gangster Harvey Gaskell.
Max messed up with his scheme by getting caught on CCTV wearing a distinctive black hoodie.
He tried to dispose of the incriminating item in a bin outside Underworld, but the police retrieved it and sent it off for testing.
As the saga continued in Wednesday’s episode, DC Kit Green received the forensics report and discovered Max’s guilt in the arson case.
Rather than face the music, Max hid from the police at the builder’s yard as his family desperately considered a way out of this mess.
David Platt’s solution was to contact Max’s aunt Becky, who hasn’t been seen on the show since her dramatic departure in January 2012.
After an off-camera phone call, David assured his wife Shona: “Becky said she’ll have Max.
“Apparently she’s still shacked up with that Ian bloke, who runs the hotel in Belize. He’s never been one for staying on the right side of the law. Max can go and work for him, cash in hand.”
A sceptical Shona replied: “So first of all we need to get Max out of the country, and then pay off Harvey.”
Paddy Bever, who plays Max, announced last month that he’d decided to leave Coronation Street and had already filmed his final scenes.
New spoilers released by the show yesterday hinted that Max’s situation may not work out as the Platts hope. Are the family about to face fresh heartbreak?
