Exciting times are ahead for Coronation Street fans as, despite a string of shock cast exits recently, a true cobbles icon is set to return.
It’s been seven years since Catherine Tyldesley was last on our screens as Eva Price, but now the actress is reprising her role—and that’s not all.
The 41-year-old soap queen is coming back with a bang, taking on an ‘unmissable’ storyline.
Viewers can also rest assured that Eva won’t be leaving in a black cab anytime soon, as she’s returning ‘full-time.’
‘But when she was approached with the idea for Eva’s return, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.’
The insider added that Catherine is due to start filming again in summer, with her first scenes airing in autumn.
‘She’s so excited and can’t wait to get back on the cobbles and it’s definitely not going to be a storyline to miss.’
Catherine first joined Corrie in 2011 as Stella Price’s (Michelle Collins) glamorous daughter.
She went on to become a firm favourite among audiences, with her character never one to shy away from confrontation and even being nicknamed ‘Eva the Diva.’
The Rovers Return barmaid was also front and centre of some of Coronation Street’s most gripping storylines.
These included Aidan Connor’s (Shayne Ward) affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), which culminated in Eva exposing them on her wedding day, appointing Maria as her head bridesmaid and acting as her best friend, all while plotting her downfall.
Fans later saw Eva fall pregnant with Aidan’s baby, whom she attempted to give to Toyah Battersby. However, little Susie was soon handed back after their plans came to light.
One of the biggest stories for Eva, though, was the tragic suicide of Aidan, who took his own life just hours after they shared a sweet, romantic moment.
The award-winning storyline had the nation in tears as the businessman’s body was discovered by his father Johnny after the residents of Weatherfield were completely unaware he was depressed.
Eventually, after returning to the street for Aidan’s inquest, Eva left again with her daughter in the back of a taxi to start a new life in France.
But it wasn’t all tears during her first stint on the cobbles, as Eva enjoyed her fair share of romances.
Famously, her flames included Adam Barlow, Rob Donovan, Jason Grimshaw, and Nick Tilsley.
Since leaving Corrie, Catherine has continued to be a regular on the small screen and stage.
She appeared in the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing alongside pro partner Johannes Radebe. They were eliminated in week five.
Catherine also appeared in an episode of McDonald and Dodds in 2022 and, in 2023, reunited with former X Factor champ Shayne to star together in The Good Ship Murder.
Despite the various other avenues her career has taken, the Manchester-born actress has never ruled out returning to Corrie.
‘Coronation Street feels like forever ago, but I always look back with such great fondness,’ she previously told Prima magazine.
