Emmerdale star Ash Palmisciano has shared a heartfelt tribute to co-star Natalie Ann Jamieson after her character was killed off on the soap.
The actor, who plays Matty Barton, took to Instagram to bid farewell to his on-screen wife Amy Wyatt who tragically lost her life in the aftermath of the limo crash.
“Ah My Soap Wife,” his caption began with a broken-heart emoji. “Matty will never be the same!!!”
“I’m So proud of the very talented @natalieannjamieson and all her incredible work this week @emmerdale !!!! We’ve had so many laughs over the years working together and now a bloody mate for life!” he continued.
“Couldn’t have asked for a better soap wife! will miss you so much! Sadly you can’t get rid of Ash tho ha Can’t wait to see you fly mate.”
In his post, the soap star shared a number of behind-the-scenes photos of the two together on the hospital set, laughing and sharing a hug in between Natalie’s final scenes.
Natalie was one of many to react to Ash’s sweet tribute in the comments section, where she wrote: “LOVE YOU”.
“Incredible performances tonight! Unreal,” commented fellow Emmerdale star Amy Walsh, followed by several clapping hands emojis.
Viewers saw Amy rescued from the icy lake after the limo crash and taken to hospital, where she briefly regained consciousness before dying of a cardiac arrest, leaving her husband Matty, mum Kerry and son Kyle devastated.
Saying goodbye to his wife, Matty kissed Amy’s hand, thanking her for “seeing” him and promising her he’d take care of Kyle.
Amy was one of three villagers to lose their life in the limo accident, with Suzy Merton and Leyla Harding also succumbing to their injuries.
In a separate Instagram post, Natalie bid farewell to her character Amy, writing: “I have had the best six years of my life playing this gobby Geordie with a heart of gold!”
