It is set to be a thrilling March on Coronation Street this year, as the cobbles are rocked by assassins and gunmen.

A new trailer has teased a dramatic month for David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), who is struggling with the guilt of son Max Turner (Paddy Bever) facing a lengthy prison sentence.

Max set fire to the family home in the hope that they could claim on the insurance and pay back the money David stole from notorious gangster Harvey Gaskell.

However, the plan backfired, and with Max at risk of spending a long time behind bars, Harvey’s threats have become even more sinister.

Out of options and desperate to keep his family safe, David makes the desperate decision to hire a hitman to mow him down.

Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) is left horrified when she sees a car plow into David, leaving him for dead.

Devastatingly, David is not the only victim, as pregnant Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) is also caught up in the collision.

‘It’s odd because he’s been really shifty,’ actress Julia Goulding teased. ‘She’s quite suspicious and then as she’s driving down the street, she sees David standing in the middle of the road, and he is standing in the middle of the road, he’s not crossing like Daisy does – she’s obviously collateral damage in it all.

‘So Shona stops the car and gets out, and she’s thinking, “What is he doing?” And then bam, the car runs him over.’

Will David and Daisy make it out alive?

Elsewhere, Rob Donovan’s (Marc Baylis) fate is finally revealed as he makes a shock return to the street.

Rob disappeared after taking sister Carla Connor (Alison King) hostage following their kidney surgeries, and she has been left fearing his fate.

Torn between being terrified that she may have killed him after pushing him down the stairs and terrified that he is alive and out for revenge, the factory boss is set to get her answer in upcoming scenes.

It is clear Rob’s recovery from surgery hasn’t been going well, but he doesn’t let that stop him from dragging Carla and girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) into an armed siege.

As armed police close in and Carla and Lisa plead for Rob to let them help him, a gunshot rings out, leaving lives at risk – but who takes the bullet?

Will Rob make his escape, or could he be leaving the street in a body bag?

With countless lives at risk, March on Coronation Street is set to be far from peaceful – and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
