General Hospital’s Willow Tait seems like a shadow of her former self since she destroyed her marriage and lost custody of her children in the process. Her adulterous affair with Drew Cain has caused Michael to see her in a whole new light, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no unfinished business between them.

Michael never imagined that his sweet and loving wife would ever stray, but when she did, she did it with flair. Not only did she have an affair, but she had an affair with his uncle without realizing their romp on the playroom floor was picked up by a nanny cam.

Since the moment Michael first saw that video, he has been in a state of shock. After suffering from severe burns in January and recovering in a German burn clinic, Michael returned to Port Charles determined to fight for his kids, but he wasn’t able to make things right with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen). Does true love never die?

Willow and Michael have known each other and had a connection since 2018. While they married in 2020 to get custody of Wiley, they didn’t become an official couple until 2021. All of that history leaves something between them that will never die, according to Gibson.

“I can’t play the scenes the way that they should be played without realizing that there’s love there,” Gibson told Michael Fairman TV. “There just has to be. They’ve spent too much time together. They share too many memories. They share too much love, and he knows at her core who she once was.”

Willow cheated and went on to flaunt her affair, which is the ultimate betrayal in a marriage, but Gibson still does not see the love between Michael and Willow as dead.

“It’s a human reaction that you’re going to hold onto that forever, regardless of what they do,” he said. “You can be mad at them, you can be upset. Your dynamics and relationship can change, but in a sense that love will always be there.”

With Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) and Daisy off in France thanks to Willow’s machinations, Michael is left all alone to brood and think about Willow. Will all those thoughts lead to a reunion down the line? Time will tell…
