The Yellowstone universe, created by Taylor Sheridan, has been a major hit with viewers. The Dutton family just can’t catch a break, and apparently neither can anyone who gets near them. The latest flavor in this wild saga is 1923. That’s the one with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. This prequel show drops you right into the early 1900s: Prohibition, drought, the Great Depression, and more.
After the success of the first season, everyone wants to know what’s up with 1923 Season 2. More importantly, where can people watch it? Well, here is the lowdown so far.
Is 1923 Season 2 on Netflix? Streaming details

If you are in the UK as of August 2025 and want to binge 1923, you are in luck. Netflix UK dropped all eight episodes of 1923 Season 1 back in July. Paramount+ is the platform required if you want to watch 1923 Season 2.
In the US, 1923 Season 1 is not available on Netflix. Paramount+ has both seasons, so you would need a subscription of the platform if you want to follow Harrison Ford wrangling cattle and generational trauma. Netflix only snagged the rights for spots outside the United States, such as the UK, parts of Europe, and Latin America.
As for Netflix picking up 1923 Season 2, don’t hold your breath. This is not happening anytime soon. If history is an indicator, Netflix only nabs the rights way later, generally after a three-year wait. So, you might catch 1923 Season 2 over there in 2028, maybe.
If you are in the US and want to see what happens next in 1923, you have to cough up for Paramount+. They have a couple of options: the “ad-supported” plan, which is about $7.99 a month, and an ad-free version with Showtime tossed in for $12.99.
For audiences outside the US, 1923 Season 2 is locked behind the Paramount+ paywall, or its affiliated streaming services in many international regions as well.
About the Yellowstone prequel, 1923

1923 is a Western drama set in the Yellowstone universe. This one lands between 1883 and the OG series, so it is like the missing puzzle piece you didn’t know you needed.
The story is set in Montana during the early 1900s, when life was no picnic. There is prohibition, the Great Depression looming, dust storms, droughts, and the whole menu of misery. The Dutton family, though, is the definition of grit in 1923, just trying to keep their land and legacy from getting trampled.
The cast includes Harrison Ford playing Jacob Dutton, and you have got Helen Mirren as Cara, the backbone of the clan. Ford’s Jacob Dutton is the definition of rugged, while Mirren as Cara has a fierce vibe. Together, they bulldoze their way through all the chaos that 1923 is all about: family drama, holding onto the ranch, you name it.
1923 is about clawing your way through disaster, protecting your people, and not letting anyone mess with what’s yours. The show dropped on Paramount+ in December 2022 with eight episodes in that first season. The show has a movie-level vibe, and the story is super addictive.
Fast forward to early 2025, and season two hits with another batch of eight. The episodes dive deeper into all the mess that the characters face, and the socio-political drama.
We also have Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton, who is fighting his way home through a mess of family drama. 1923 doesn’t just add another chapter to the Yellowstone saga – it digs in, tosses in some gritty history, and stirs up the feelings. It is way more than just cowboys and shootouts.
Bottom line: 1923 is an emotional ride. If you are into family drama, cowboy hats, or just want to understand why Yellowstone is a big deal, don’t sleep on this show.
