Coronation Street’s Alya Nazir is set to face a business battle in the wake of grandmother Yasmeen’s exit.
It was recently confirmed that star Shelley King will be exiting the cobbles after 11 years, with her character Yasmeen set to announce later this week that she has been offered a job in London and plans to sell her share in Speed Daal.
In follow-up scenes due to air next Monday and Wednesday (March 10 and March 12), Yasmeen confirms to Alya that she has sold her share, and Alya shakes hands with her new business partner.
But will things go smoothly?
Yasmeen and Alya later bid farewell to each other in emotional scenes, before Alya returns to work.
However, she is left furious after noticing that the Speed Daal menu has been changed, and rips it up. She then tries to stamp her authority over her new business partner.
Is this the beginning of deeper tensions?
King’s exit from the ITV soap was reported back in January, though she is yet to publicly address her departure.
However, it was claimed that she had decided to leave early last year in order to pursue other opportunities, and filmed her final scenes back in December.
Shelley is among a number of recently confirmed Coronation Street exits, including fellow stars Paddy Bever, Charlotte Jordan, Colson Smith, Sue Cleaver and Luca Toolan.
In other news, George Shuttleworth actor Tony Maudsley has confirmed his character will stay on the soap in the wake of Sue’s exit as Eileen Grimshaw.
“That’s George serving (and burying) the good folk of Weatherfield till at least July 2026. Happy days!” he wrote on X.
