Coronation Street’s Evelyn Plummer returns for another guest appearance in Friday’s episode (March 14).
Evelyn reappears in the desperate hope of bringing her daughter Cassie back from the brink following her scandal with Ken Barlow.
Cassie is currently public enemy number one on the cobbles, after she was caught out for repeatedly spiking Ken’s drinks with antihistamines while working as his unofficial carer.
Ken also figured out that Cassie had been shamelessly using his credit card to make expensive purchases for herself.

Cassie’s crimes led to her being kicked out of No.1 for good. Unable to condone such behaviour, Cassie’s son Tyrone also turned against her and made it clear that she was no longer welcome.
In Friday’s episode, Evelyn pops back from university and optimistically announces that she’s going to sort things out once and for all.
Evelyn tries to plead Cassie’s case with Tyrone and Fiz, hoping that they’ll give her another chance despite everything, but can she sway them?
Fans can see exactly how the drama plays out when the episode airs at 8pm on ITV1 tonight, or right now on ITVX.

Claire Sweeney, who plays Cassie, recently told us: “Cassie expects a right rollicking from Evelyn. She expects Evelyn to turn on her, which is her normal reaction.
“But Evelyn has a real change of heart and supports Cassie. She stands up for her. Cassie can’t believe her mum is seeing her and sticking up for her.
“Even though Evelyn doesn’t believe a word she’s saying, there’s something in Evelyn that goes: ‘This is my daughter’.”

Dame Maureen Lipman, who plays Evelyn, bowed out as a Coronation Street regular in January but will continue to appear for guest appearances in certain storylines.
Evelyn, who has enrolled onto a university course to study Law, was last seen on January 29 when she paid a visit to the cobbles and expressed suspicion over Cassie’s intentions with Ken.
Claire added: “They were great scenes with Maureen and me. I always love doing two-handers with Maureen. She’s always on fire, Maureen, and it’s great working with her.”
