Legendary Daytime Leading Man Teases a Long-Awaited Comeback
It’s been more than a decade since Jon Hensley last appeared on a soap, and even then, it was just a few appearances on The Bold and the Beautiful as Dr. “I Didn’t Even Get a First Name” Meade. But the veteran actor, who spent a quarter of a century off and on playing Holden Snyder on As the World Turns, is poised for a return to the screen.
“Spring is in the air,” he tweeted along with a photo of himself and younger daughter Gigi, “and this one is officially headed to SMU this fall. I always told myself once the last one gets [into] college, I needed to get my butt back on TV.
“Maybe,” he added, “it’s time to start auditioning again.”
In addition to Gigi, Hensley and former wife and As the World Turns castmate Kelley Menighan, who was Emily Stewart, have two older children, Spencer and Sophie. Now that Dad’s an empty-nester, it’s time for him to spread his wings anew. We have a feeling that he won’t even have to audition.
In fact, the timing is perfect for Hensley to make tracks back to The Bold and the Beautiful, where Ridge Forrester has for the umpteenth time chosen ex-wife Taylor Hayes over ex-wife Brooke Logan. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, the designer swaps spouses every couple of years; it’ll be Brooke’s turn again soon enough! But in the meantime, the passion’s plaything will need a romantic distraction.
Paging Dr. Meade. (See here: He’s on our list of potential matches for Brooke.) The soap could easily work Hensley’s short-lived character back onto the canvas by making him a colleague of mother/son docs Li and Finn Finnegan. In fact, while Meade might first notice his pulse racing around Brooke, he might realize that his ticker actually belongs to Li.
Yes, she’s chilly. Yes, she’s explosive. But with Meade, Li lets down her guard and shows a little bit of the warm and funny woman that she would be if life would just stop giving her lemons. (Hey, we’d be bitter, too, if our husband had been a cheat who passed off his mistress’ kid as our adopted one, and our sister had seduced our teenage son!)
