Josh Kelly wants to ‘stay on General Hospital forever’
In his recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Josh Kelly confirmed he is not departing General Hospital. He stated that he decided to go off-contract, which does not affect his stay on the show. “I want to stay on General Hospital forever!” he exclaimed. The 43-year-old revealed that his decision to go off contract was to remain available for other projects. One of the projects also includes his real-life girlfriend, Chloe Lanier.
Kelly continued, “Chloe and I are making a movie that we’re planning on shooting for two months. We’re also trying to shoot the sequel to the movie that I have coming out this summer, The Workout. I just wouldn’t be able to do that if I was on contract; you don’t just get to go off and do a bunch of other projects. And I wouldn’t expect the show to work around my schedule.”
The actor also expressed gratitude towards the show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, for managing his schedule while he was shooting for his film. He added, “Frank bent over backwards to make it work, and I am so appreciative of him. But some days, I would have to work at night on the movie and then come in and work on GH during the day, and sometimes I felt like I was letting one project down. And I don’t want to let this show down at all.”
Further, Kelly approached the show about shifting to recurring and having “a little more flexibility.” The actor did not want to let General Hospital down, and the new arrangement managed to ease things out for him. Additionally, Kelly is hoping for his character’s romantic track with his confidante, Tracy. He hilariously explained, “I will not leave the show until they allow Cody to date Tracy.”
