After a lengthy and contentious custody battle, General Hospital star Steve Burton and his ex-wife Sheree have reached a final resolution. The couple, who filed for divorce in 2022 after 23 years of marriage, appeared for a court hearing in Orange County, California on August 5.
The judge’s decision grants Burton custody of their daughter, Brooklyn, on alternating weekends and one additional day during the week. For the remaining days, Brooklyn will reside with her mother, Sheree. The court also established a custody schedule for holidays and vacations.
Additionally, the court has ordered both Burton and Sheree to attend co-parenting therapy, with the costs to be shared between the two. This step is aimed at ensuring a more amicable parenting arrangement moving forward.
The divorce came after Sheree’s pregnancy, which Burton revealed was not his child. In a statement made in May 2022, Burton clarified, “Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine.” Despite the separation, Burton assured the public that he and Sheree were still committed to co-parenting their three children: Makena (21), Jack (19), and Brooklyn (10).
With this resolution, both parties hope to move forward, focusing on their children and maintaining a healthy co-parenting dynamic.
