General Hospital star Cameron Mathison finds a new love

Unlike his General Hospital character, Drew Cain, Cameron Mathison is not in the doghouse! However, he did pay a recent visit to a dog shelter where he opted to foster a new friend.

General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison is on the hunt(er)

Mathison’s followers recall the actor had said a sad farewell to Red, his longtime beloved dog. Now, the fan favorite is sharing the news that he has opened his heart to a new four-legged pal.

“Meet Hunter,” Mathison shared in an Instagram post. “Hunter is from West Los Angeles Animal Shelter and is the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. He’s a 100-pound Doberman and so far has completely wooed me with his gentle nature and beauty.

“Some of you may remember my Doberman Red, who passed away about a year and a half ago, and I’ve been thinking a lot about adopting or fostering another one for a long time,” the actor shared. “Thank you to all the amazing volunteers at West Los Angeles Animal Shelter, who could not have been more helpful and more amazing in every way.”

In the audio portion of his post, Mathison shared that he brought Hunter into his life today. “I got a little foster,” says the actor, adding that he spies a remarkable resemblance between Hunter and his dear Red.

“I’m thrilled to take him out of that shelter,” Mathison said, “and we’re going to hang out and enjoy each other, right?”Debbie Matenopoulos who co-hosted Home & Family with Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) is speaking out her pal

Hunter is home and family

While Mathison’s post indicates he’s merely fostering Hunter and hasn’t fully adopted him yet, at least one of his pals believes that’s just a technicality.

“Omg!!! You got another RED. They are twins,” shared Debbie Matenopoulos, who was Mathison’s co-host on Home & Family and was an original panelist on The View. “That dog isn’t being fostered. That dog is yours now, my friend. lol.”

Mathison’s soap pals also weighed in with their congratulations. “Ohhhhh I love this !!!!” enthused Laura Wright (Carly). Adds Rebecca Budig (Taylor, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Greenlee, All My Children): “Omg. Cammy. This is the best. I hope it all works out. He’s beautiful.”

“Aweee sweet Hunter!” wrote Tanisha Harper (Jordan). “Play date with him and Cosette soon!”

Soap Central congratulates the General Hospital star on his new foster, and we look forward to seeing his adventures with Hunter via the actor’s social media account.
