THE FUTURE of a hit drama starring a former EastEnders actor has been revealed after one series.
Amazon Prime streamed the popular historical series – House of David – and it received critical acclaim and a 89% Rotten Tomatoes score.
Set in 1000 BC, the story tells the rise of King David – played by Michael Iskander – in Biblical Israel.
At the start of the series, he is a young outcast shepherd who is anointed to be the next king by the prophet, Samuel.
This is following the disobedience of the once-mighty King Saul, who fell victim to his own pride.
David then finds himself on a journey of self-discovery to fulfill his potential and cement his destiny.
The historical period project has received rave reviews from fans and it has now been revealed that the show has been given the green light for a second series.
It’s debut edition premiered with 22 million viewers in the first 17 days of streaming.
The second series will show David’s rise to the throne after his battle with Goliath (Martyn Ford).
He will attempt to navigate palace politics, a burgeoning romance, and his family’s intense jealousy.
On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the first series received only a 60 per cent score from critics.
However, the audience seems to enjoy it far more, as it currently has an 89 per cent average audience score on the Popcornmeter, as of the time of writing.
Former EastEnders star Davood Ghadami, 42, plays Eliab who is a high-ranking soldier in Saul’s army.
He is the oldest son of Jesse (played by Louis Ferreira) and is the older brother of the main protagonist, David.
The actor starred in the hit BBC One soap as the hunky and energetic market trader, Kush Kazemi when he made his debut in 2014.
