April Windsor’s (Amelia Flanagan) been struggling to face the ordeal she’s been through in Emmerdale, and who could blame her.

After running away to spend six weeks living on the streets, only to tragically and traumatically give birth to a stillborn baby girl in a gym toilet, April has not returned as the same teenager who left.

She’s barely been speaking to her parents and is certainly not ready to acknowledge the birth and death of her daughter.

Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) have struggled being left out on the periphery and have danced on eggshells in encouraging April open up to them. But every time they try, April shoots them down.

She’s in a world of emotional pain, but there’s a tiny light at the end of the tunnel as she starts to soften. Rhona refuses to give up on her and slowly, April starts to come round to her.

She even reaches the point of feeling gratitude towards her stepmum for her support. This is a huge breakthrough.

After refusing to acknowledge her daughter, April surprises her parents by revealing she wants to register the birth.

But that’s not the only big step April is about to take. The whole family is taken aback when she comes downstairs with a huge announcement – she’s ready to go back to school.

While completely unexpected, her parents are determined to be supportive of whatever she wants.

The next day she returns, but it seems even April has forgotten that she’s not the person she once was. The last couple of months have changed her into someone that sets her miles apart from her classmates.

In a painful twist, April’s brave decision comes back to bite her when she hears two girls gossiping about her.

Reality sets in and April realises just how lonely she feels.
