UNFILTERED SOAP STAR STORIES! REBECCA BUDIG CAN’T CONTAIN HER LAUGHTER! SURPRISING REVELATIONS ON THE LATEST PODCAST!
Behind the Laughter: ‘Days of Our Lives’ Star Greg Rikaart Spills Surprising Details About a Fellow Actor!
Greg Rikaart (Leo, Days of Our Lives) and Rebecca Budig (Taylor, The Bold and the Beautiful) recently co-hosted the CBS podcast Soapy. In a fun, turn-the-tables twist, the hosts got to interview each other instead of a guest. They asked and answered each other’s questions, revealing some hilarious behind-the-scenes stories and secrets, including what it might be like to actually work together on screen.
Getting “Soapy” with a Fan Favorite
Greg Rikaart is a familiar face to daytime drama fans, known for his fan-favorite role as Leo Stark on Days of Our Lives. Many also remember him as Kevin Fisher, Michael Baldwin’s half-brother on The Young and the Restless. With his friendly smile, infectious laugh, and deep knowledge of daytime serials, Rikaart is a natural choice as co-host of CBS’s new podcast, Soapy. He and Rebecca Budig host the weekly show, interviewing past and present co-stars and showrunners.
During their recent self-interview on ET’s Spilling the E-Tea, the two friends dove into some lighthearted questions. Budig asked Rikaart about his craziest storyline, leading him to recall how he earned the nickname “The Chipmunk” on The Young and the Restless. Rikaart, in turn, quizzed Budig about the most awkward moment during a love scene. Her answer? A candlelit bubble bath with then-co-star Josh Duhamel on All My Children… when he, well, farted!
Running Lines and Surprising Revelations
The conversation also touched on the challenges of memorizing lines in today’s fast-paced taping environment. Both Rikaart and Budig agreed that the pace has certainly picked up over the years. Because of that, they use some tricks when memorizing lines, such as noting if a sentence ends and the next one begins with the same letter.
When discussing which stars they would love to do a scene with, Budig suggested reuniting with Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo, AMC) or doing a comedy with John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GH). Rikaart thought it would be amazing to work with Demi Moore (ex-Jackie, GH), and then playfully suggested how fun it would be to work with Budig on a soap.
Budig agreed it’d be fun, but then joked it would also be “annoying.” She admitted she’d constantly be asking to run lines. Rikaart quickly quipped back, “I don’t think I would want to run lines with you,” as Budig burst into laughter. It was all in good fun, highlighting the easy camaraderie and playful dynamic between the two hosts.
