Coronation Street fans think they have ‘rumbled’ how Billy Mayhew will leave Weatherfield – and they’ll think it’ll be tragic with someone to blame.

Actor Daniel Brocklebank made his first appearance in the ITV soap in 2014, taking on the role of the reformed vicar. In that time, he has seen his fair share of drama on the cobbles – particularly when it comes to matters of the heart.

But Billy eventually fell in love and settled down with Paul Foreman, before his heartbreaking Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis and eventual death.

While Billy is moving on with his life on the cobbles, it was revealed earlier this year that Daniel would be bowing out of the long-running show.

In a statement shared with The Mirror in May, Dan confirmed: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.

“I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.”

It was teased that a major storyline airing in 2026 will lead to the departure, but no details can be given at this time. It was later reported that Billy will be killed off in one of the biggest storylines of the festive period, however, this hasn’t been confirmed by anyone at Corrie.

That hasn’t, however, stopped fans speculating over how they think Billy will leave Weatherfield, and they are concerned it could end in death for the archdeacon, with them believing he may be murdered by Theo Silverton.

Fans have become increasingly aware of the character’s behaviour in recent weeks, having got into a relationship with Weatherfield favourite Todd Grimshaw.

Fans of the ITV soap will recall that it’s been months now since the undertaker and builder unexpectedly met on the cobbles, with sparks quickly flying between the pair.

But weeks later, it transpired that Theo had a secret wife, Danielle, and two children, but knowing he was battling with his family’s religious beliefs, he revealed he’d been subject to conversion therapy.

Corrie viewers have predicted that an abusive relationship will develop between Theo and Todd, and they also fear it could spill over to Todd’s loved ones.

Bossk_989 shared on Reddit: “Don’t know if predictions are usually done on here but i thought I’d share mine. Theo becomes abusive towards Todd and that goes on for a while. After a while, Todd finally speaks up about it to Billy. As Billy tries to help or go to the police, Theo will kill Billy for “interfering” as his rage grows and he is more abusive, thus will have less limits.

“Billy’s death will have a huge impact on Summer and Todd, and I think will do one of two things. Either Todd and Summer grow closer and they begin to live together and Todd is her sole father. Or it causes a rift between them as Summer blames Todd for bringing Theo into their lives, this would lead to summer having some sort of crisis and breakdown due to feeling completely alone. Just a prediction though.”

Round-Leg-1788 replied: “Yeah 100% this Is the route they’re going down and it will be so sad and awful to watch.” nostalgic_muffin echoed: “Agree this is where this is going – just commented it on another post before seeing this one. Billy getting killed trying to protect Todd from Theo, or something. How depressing!”

Lego_Panda_Bear added: “I have also been thinking that Theo’s abuse of Todd will lead to Billy’s death. I think Billy will try to help Todd and Theo will fly into a rage and hit Billy too hard, or cause Billy to fall and hit his head, resulting in death. Of course, it will be an accident, Theo didn’t mean to hit him, he just couldn’t control himself.

“Todd will stand by his man. Summer will pull away from the only father she has left, and everyone on the street will stand by her. Theo’s ex-wife and children will blame everything on Todd, for forcing Theo to come out. Todd will be completely alone in his love for Theo, and even more alone when Theo goes to prison. It will take extensive therapy (off-screen of course) for Todd to realise he had been abused, manipulated, and made to push everyone away.”
