Coronation Street will reportedly be getting a major shake-up later this year, with the Rovers set to get a new landlady.
It was reported in February that Catherine Tyldesley would be reprising her famous role after seven years away from the soap, with her return scenes set to begin filming next week. Digital Spy has reached out for further comment, but is yet to hear anything.
Though Tyldesley’s return hasn’t been officially confirmed, the actor revealed in January that she had been asked several times to reprise her role, recalling: “Coronation Street feels like forever ago, but I always look back with such great fondness.
“They’ve asked me to go back a couple of times over the years, and it just so happened that I was busy with other projects. But if they approached me with an amazing storyline and the time was right, of course, I’d go back. So it’s always a case of never say never.”
Though the actor’s apparent return is yet to be confirmed, Eva’s reported takeover of the Rovers has been facilitated by Jenny’s arc, which saw her relinquish control of the pub following a storyline involving Daisy Midgeley.
Furthermore, it was confirmed on Friday (1 August) that actor Sally Ann Matthews – who plays Jenny – would be departing the soap in the near future, bringing an end to her decade-long stint in the role.

“I was supposed to stay for five months but ended up doing an extra ten years because I loved it so much!” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s time, though, to play those parts I always hoped I would when I’d grown up. Thanks Trafford Wharf Rd for the memories and endless laughter x.”
