Bruno Langley was sacked from ITV soap Coronation Street but where is the original Todd Grimshaw star now?

Bruno Langley, formerly known as Coronation Street’s Todd Grimshaw, has been leading a very different life almost ten years after his dramatic departure from the soap.
The actor became a household name when he joined the ITV soap in 2001 as Todd Grimshaw, arriving in Weatherfield with his family, including mum Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and brother Jason (Ryan Thomas).
Throughout his time on the show, Todd was at the centre of many major plots, notably as the first openly gay character to tread the cobbles.

In recent episodes, Todd has been romantically linked with new character Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), but there’s been a noticeable dark twist to his behaviour.

Currently, the role of Todd is portrayed by Gareth Pierce, who stepped into the shoes in 2020 following Bruno’s dismissal in 2017 for sexually assaulting two women in a Manchester bar, reports the Daily Star.
Bruno pleaded guilty to the charges and was handed a 12-month community order and curfew, along with an obligation to pay compensation to his victims.
He expressed his remorse to The Sunday Mirror: “I have no excuse, no one forced me to drink to such an extreme, but it is hard to explain why I would do anything as dreadful as that.

“It must have been awful for those women, and I am ashamed of myself. I’m truly sorry. I sincerely apologise to the women, from the bottom of my heart. I promise I will never do anything like that again.”
Following his conviction, Bruno was swiftly removed from Coronation Street, with the show erasing all remnants of the actor.
In 2019, he took to Twitter to announce a significant shift in his career path, sharing with his followers that he had embraced the world of photography. He penned: “I just wanted to reach out and say that yes I am a photographer now, I’m really happy being creative in this way, and I make people really happy with what I do.”

Bruno opened up about stepping away from the limelight, stating: “I have been taking some time out these last two years or so to catch my breath, reassess what is important to me, and to make myself a better person.”
He acknowledged the potential for criticism but remained resilient: “I understand some people will want to say negative things and that is fine, I can take it.”
Expressing gratitude for the support he’s received, Bruno said: “I have been shown so much support and love by so many people, be it friends, family, or strangers I meet, and I want to thank you from my heart for being so amazing and compassionate towards me.”

Then, in 2021, Bruno surprised everyone by venturing into music. He debuted his first track ‘Downpour’ on Spotify, which includes a special contribution from his sister.
He announced: “Good evening friends, brothers and sisters. My latest track ‘Downpour’ is available to stream right now. For anyone that practices yoga or meditation or for people that just want to chill-out and de-stress, this might be your kind of thing.”
He continued with heartfelt thanks to his sibling: “My beautiful and endlessly talented sister Amy provided the Cello for me -thank you so much sister, I love you. I am really happy to share this track with you, I had a great time making it. All my best – Bru x”.
In recent times, Bruno has kept a low profile, with his latest public activity being the release of his song Downpour.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
