Beloved Y&R Star Dead at 78, Multi-Soap Alum Dies at 65 – A Heartbreaking Loss for the Soap World
The soap opera community is mourning the loss of two beloved actors who left an indelible mark on the industry. Mark Dobies, known for his powerful performances on Guiding Light and One Life to Live, has sadly passed away at the age of 65. Just days later, The Young and the Restless alum Wings Hauser, who portrayed attorney Greg Foster, also died at 78, leaving fans heartbroken.
Mark Dobies was born on April 3, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Before stepping into acting, he was a football star with a scholarship to Delaware Valley University and later worked as a personal trainer. His acting career took off in 1997 with a role in the drama series Fame LA. In 2000, Dobies joined the soap world as Dr. Noah Chase on Guiding Light, where his character became entangled in romantic and espionage drama. However, his most memorable role was as Daniel Coulson on One Life to Live from 2003 to 2005. Daniel’s shocking storyline as a district attorney with a hidden, dangerous secret captivated audiences and made daytime television history.
According to an obituary, Dobies passed away on March 11th in Dunellen, New Jersey. While the cause of death was not disclosed, he is remembered as a devoted father to Francesca, Olivia, and Robert, as well as a loving son and brother.
Just days later, the soap world faced another devastating loss. Wings Hauser, who played Greg Foster on The Young and the Restless, died on March 15th at 78. He leaves behind a daughter, actor Cole Hauser, and his wife Callie.
