Emmerdale’s Joe Tate faces his worst nightmare in Thursday’s episode as his long-time rival Ross Barton seizes an opportunity to keep an eye on him.
Joe is horrified as Ross bags himself a new job as ‘head of security’ at Home Farm, which will make him a regular fixture around the estate.
The drama plays out after Ross discovers that village newcomer Kammy has got up to no good by stealing one of Kim Tate’s horses.
Ross takes the animal back but is caught red-handed by Kim, who points a gun at him and demands an explanation.

A master of talking his way out of trouble, Ross suggests that Kim should hire him after the recent spate of farmyard thefts in the area.
Ross claims that a particular priority should be keeping watch over Joe, who clearly isn’t to be trusted.
Later, Joe’s scheming rumbles on as he continues with his outrageous plan to steal a kidney from Caleb Miligan.
The rich businessman is also still hiding his affair with Dawn Fletcher, which Kim disapproves of.

Sadly for Joe, there’s bad news when Kim announces Home Farm’s new employee and he realises that Ross could be watching closely while he’s juggling so many secrets.
Joe scoffs: “Should we just report the inside job now and save ourselves some time? This guy’s broken more laws than I can think of.”
Kim replies: “Which makes him an expert in the field. And are you not all about redemption?”

Enjoying every minute of his triumph, Ross adds: “Don’t you worry, pal. I’m going to take this job real serious. I’m going to have my eye on everything.
“There’s nothing that’s going to happen on Home Farm without me knowing about it. Nothing.”
Will Ross discover Joe’s dark secrets now that he’s part of the Home Farm team?
