ITV BOSSES are calling for potential Coronation Street writers to join the ailing soap amid fan fury over its storylines.
Execs working on the long-running show have put a call out for fresh new talent to pen its upcoming plots.
A brand new role based at the cobbled set in Manchester has been advertised, with the lucky candidate set to receive a comfortable five-figure salary.
Paid up to £56,000, the selected writer will need to have a “keen passion for Corrie” and create dynamic and compelling storylines.
The job advert states: “You will also liaise with the Series Producers and Story Producer to ensure creative coherence between story and script departments.”
ITV add that the candidate will need to be able to write scripts that resonate with Corrie’s audience.
Just this month long-term viewers of the show branded its current storylines ‘grim and depressing’ and said there was ‘no enjoyment’ in tuning in.
It comes after Coronation Street bosses are set to offer the cast short contracts sparking fears further cast culls will be made.

Brit actor Jonathan Howard, who has appeared in Thor: The Dark World, Downton Abbey and Godzilla King of the Monsters, will take the role of Kevin and Debbie Webster’s younger brother.
The Bailey family will also welcome back son James – but this time with a new face.
Actor Nathan Graham has been replaced with newcomer Jason Callender taking over the role.
Rounding out a trio of new faces is James Cartwright, who will play Theo Silverton.
