Previously John’s partner, Aaron Dingle attacked Anthony Fox after a falling out, but it was Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly), Anthony’s daughter, who went on to kill her father on the same night, after the altercation.
John and Aaron returned to the depot after, finding Anthony’s body, and it was John who disposed of the body as Aaron became convinced he’d killed him.
John has since kept the location of where Anthony is buried a secret, worried that it will lead to those involved being found out by the police if he discloses it.
In tonight’s episode, Chas questioned son Aaron why John is being controlling and hiding the details of the body’s whereabouts, which led to John finally confirming Anthony’s burial place.
The episode began with Chas still convinced that Aaron should go to the police to report his altercation with Anthony and clear himself over his death, but Aaron told his mum he won’t throw John under the bus.
Aaron returned home and confronted John about the body, asking to know where it is, which left John confused as to why Aaron had changed his mind and wanting answers.
Aaron then told John about Chas’s plan for him to go to the police and John was upset, worried it would result in him taking the wrap, when he disposed of the body to protect Aaron out of love.
Aaron left and caught up with Chas, telling her that John still wouldn’t tell him the location of Anthony’s body. But the pair’s chat was interrupted when they both received a text from John asking to meet him urgently.
Aaron and Chas met John in some woodland, with Ruby, Caleb and Cain also showing up for the meeting. John told the others about Chas’s plan to go to the police, which led to an angry outburst from Caleb, thinking she was trying to point the finger at him and Ruby.
Hoping to restore unity, John declared that the site they’re standing on is where Anthony Fox’s body is buried. “I trust you and I like to think this proves you can trust me,” he said.
Everyone then agreed to stick together and not speak of Anthony’s death, with Chas apologising for suggesting going to the police.
The group are united, but the episode’s final moments saw a bereft Ruby alone and crying at her dad’s grave.
