Coronation Street‘s David Platt faces a dangerous decision next week as he’s pressured to take part in further criminal jobs.
The popular character has been driven to desperate measures in order to pay back the money he owes to gangster Harvey Gaskell.
David has faced intimidation and threats since secretly stealing the cash that Harvey and Damon Hay secured in a robbery last year.
This made David one of the key suspects when the Platt family home was targeted in an arson attack this week.
David was accused of starting the fire himself in an insurance scam, but he’s since revealed that he couldn’t have been responsible as he was acting as the getaway driver in a robbery at the time.
Next week, David reaps the rewards of his criminal activity when his dodgy friend Andy hands over £2,000 as payment.
Andy then reveals that he has a much bigger job lined up and would like David to be involved again.
David is open-minded as he listens to the details, but he struggles to make a final decision over whether it’s a good idea or not.
Meanwhile, David’s brother Nick Tilsley has a proposition of his own. With David clearly at a crossroads, what will he do?
Speaking in December about David’s dark storyline, Coronation Street‘s producer Kate Brooks commented: “I love the Platts for many reasons. They’re funny, they’re brilliant and they feel like a real family. What I’m keen to show is that this is Corrie. David’s a hairdresser and he’s not used to being embroiled with drug barons and gangsters. That’s not his world.
“But what happens if you take a guy who’s very ordinary and put him in a world where people are acting and reacting without any thought or consequence?
“It’s really important to show how a normal fella reacts to all of this.”
