The 45-year-old actress made her Coronation Street debut back in 2006 as Beck McDonald, formerly Granger. She was initially contracted to appear for three months, but became a series regular due to popularity.

Over her years in Weatherfield, Becky formed a close friendship with Roy and Hayley Cropper and had two notable relationships with Jason Grimshaw and Steve McDonald.

Producers later introduced her half-sister Kylie Turner on the cobbles, who was played by Paula Lane who recently also departed from her role in Emmerdale as Ella Forster.

Becky ended up leaving Weatherfield in 2011 when she fled to Barbados with businessman Danny Stratton. However, earlier this year it was revealed Becky is no longer with Danny in Barbados, but is living with someone called Ian in Belize.

During Tuesday’s (August 12) instalment of This Morning, Katherine sat down with presenters Emma Willis and Andi Peters as she spoke about her latest TV roles.

Since leaving the ITV soap, Katherine as found herself starring in various thriller dramas including Innocent, Long Shadow, and more recently The Crow Girl.

The actress will also be on-screen for new Channel 4 drama, In Flight, where she takes on the lead role of Jo Conran. The synopsis reads: “When her teenage son is jailed for murder in Bulgaria, flight attendant Jo enters a murky world of drug smuggling and will stop at nothing to save him.”

Katherine revealed while on This Morning that executive producer on the new show, Tony Wood, was also involved in casting her for The Crow Girl and Coronation Street.

She shared: “It’s a beautiful story. There’s a man who, in our world, is very well known, he’s called Tony Wood. He looked after Coronation Street for a couple of years. I was the last person that he cast…

“By the time I arrived, he’d gone and it was only the cast told me, you know, you were the last person that Tony cast.

“Years and years and years went by, and I never came across him. Then when we were doing a read through for The Crow Girl, he introduced himself at the read through, and I said, ‘I absolutely know who you are, thanks for this job and thanks for the other one’!”

Reflecting on her latest role with Tony, she added: “So yes, when he offered me this, I said ‘let’s make it a treble’. So yeah, I owe that man a lot.”
