On General Hospital, Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) life has completely unraveled, and so has she! After learning that her mother, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was previously shacking up with her husband-to-be, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), during her nuptials, she reveals to the man she trusted she knows of his duplicity. All of this on the heels of losing custody of her children, Amelia and Wiley to her ex-husband, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson).
During this week’s live conversation with Katelyn MacMullen, Avery Pohl, and their acting coach and soap alum, Holly Gagnier (ex-DAYS, OLTL and GH), on the Michael Fairman Channel, MacMullen opened up about the emotionally devastating scenes that aired this week on the ABC daytime drama series.
Knowing that the GH audience was waiting at home (with baited breath) to see Willow come to the realization of Nina and Drew’s duplicity and the scenes at the altar of their wedding, Katelyn shared, “It was definitely nerve-wracking, because there is this special bond with the audience, and you are aware of those scenes that you get where you’re like, ‘The audience has been waiting for this.’ I needed to show up and be my best, because if there’s any moment I really truly want to give to them, it’s in this moment, along the lines of a reveal, or when a story kind of climaxes. So, I was definitely nervous.”

With Willow having lost everything, including the rug being pulled out from under her, she shows up at Carly’s (Laura Wright) looking for Michael and her kids, complete with mascara running down her face, and looking crazed. Katelyn weighed-in on the moment, “After the wedding, I think for Willow, there’s been so much shock and trauma in this moment that she probably thinks ,’It’s s time to go see my kids now.” But is she ready? Absolutely not.”
Cameron Mathison had taken a lot of heat from the fans of GH, for his portrayal of a shady, manipulative, disdainful Drew Cain, but Katelyn had nothing but high praise for her scene partner, “He’s truly phenomenal, and then obviously his wok is just incredible,” shared MacMullen. “I feel like I learned a lot from working with him because he’s been doing this for a while, and he’s so kind to me, and supportive, and always makes sure that I’m feeling okay. It’s been cool to navigate this storyline with him because we both have been like, ‘What is happening next? What are we doing?’ We’ve kind of had to dive in together. I feel very grateful.”

While fans have dumped on poor Willow over her clueless moments, MacMullen will stand by her character, ride or die, explaining, “I love Willow I will defend her forever. She has had her clueless moments. Certainly, there’s been some stuff that’s gone under her personal radar, but that’s the character’s journey and where she’s at right now.”
